We cross the Strait of Magellan from Punta Arenas to Bahía Chilota, leaving the mainland behind and entering the Isla Grande of Tierra del Fuego.
Our first immersion into the island takes us to Laguna de los Cisnes and the Parque de los Estromatolitos, where the landscape holds life forms that connect with the earliest chapters of natural history. We then continue to Porvenir for the afternoon, getting to know its local character before spending our first night in Tierra del Fuego.
IMMERSIVE MOMENT
Walking among formations that evoke some of the most ancient origins of life on the planet.
We leave Porvenir and cross the Fuegian steppe toward one of the island’s most singular encounters: the King Penguin Park, where we observe life that resists and thrives in these extreme latitudes.
We then continue to Parque Natural Karukinka, where the landscape changes in scale and rhythm. We set up camp and venture into the territory through an activity defined by the park’s operations — whether hiking its trails or cycling across part of the steppe. The day ends under the Fuegian sky, surrounded by silence, forest and open nature.
IMMERSIVE MOMENT
Moving from an encounter with king penguins to a night camping in one of the most remote corners of Tierra del Fuego.
We leave Karukinka and head north across the island, crossing the Fuegian steppe once more to reach Cerro Sombrero. Here, another face of Tierra del Fuego emerges: the story of oil, architecture and the communities that learned to inhabit this extreme territory.
After lunch, we take a short walk through the town before beginning the return to Punta Arenas. The expedition closes by uniting two dimensions of the island: the vast natural world we lived at Karukinka and the human mark that endures amid the wind and the steppe.

Closing the journey with the contrast between Karukinka’s wilderness and the marks of human life in the Fuegian steppe.
